Plant Experiment
1. Purpose of Lesson
In today's lesson students will write up an experiment and conduct it. This page gives guidelines to students on how to write up their experiment. It also provides students with the procedure and equipment needed for the experiment. Students will write up their experiment using the scientific method, then they will conduct it and record the results of their experiment over a two week period.

3. Writing up the experiment: Using the scientific Method
Equipment (what will I need for the experiment?)
Procedure (what am I going to do?)
- 2 cups
- Sand
- Potting mix
- 2x plant seeds
- Water
- Ruler
Procedure (what am I going to do?)

4. Determine the aim and Hypothesis
Using the procedure that is given to you, identify the aim, variables and hypothesis of the experiment. Record this on your investigation sheet. Use the links to the module below to help you.
5. Conduct the experiment
Using the procedure above conduct the experiment! Ensure you follow the instructions carefully as it will effect your experiment if you don't.
6. Draw up a results table
In order to record our results, we must draw up a results table. Results should be taken everyday you are at school. An example will be given to you by your teacher. Remember to include the following:
- A title (identifying what your experiment is about)
- A column for time (the amount of days)
- A column for growth of the potty mix plant (in mm)
- A column for growth of the sand plant (in mm)
