Task 1: Choosing Your Country
You must choose a country that is related to your heritage. After you have chosen your country you must then start brainstorming about this country. You may use your device to aid you in this investigation. The brainstorm must have the countries name in the centre and then have the following branch heading coming off of it:
The brainstorm should be completed within an hour, part of which is to be completed in class. Students are allowed to do their brainstorm on a blank A3/A4 page or on their devices (bubbl.us and stormboard are two online programs that can be used).
- Cuisine: what food do they eat in your country? what do they eat for breakfast? what dish are they famous for?
- Arts: what style of art/music/dram/dance are they known for?
- Language: what is their main language/s?
- Culture: what unique things make their culture unique?
- Demographics: what is the range of different ethnic groups in the country?
- Capital and other cities: what is the capital city and what is the most visited (or second) city in the country?
- Landmarks: name 3 major landmarks and give a short description of them.
- Major religion: what is their major religion? how does this compare with Christianity?
- Population: what is the total population of the country?
- Natural land forms: what are some natural land forms that are tourist hot spots (i.e. Grand Canyon, Uluru, Mt Everest, etc.)?
