Geomorphic Hazard
Task OVERVIEW
You are to select one type of geomorphic hazard and research how it is formed (ACHGK053), the impact it has on the environment and people (ACHGK053), as well as how people respond to it (ACHGK053). You are then to present your findings as a poster (old school), PowerPoint (presentation software) or documentary (iMovie).
You may choose from one of the following hazards:

Your project should include pictures, diagrams, maps and interesting data. You must also follow the outline provided below, ensuring you include all the required information:
- Select a Geomorphic Hazard
- Define what a geomorphic hazard is and what your chosen geomorphic hazard is.
- Describe the global spatial distribution (general location/pattern in the world) of your hazard (use Google Maps to help you).
- Explain how your hazard is formed and how it operates (the geomorphic process).
- Explain the Impact it has on People and the Environment
- Choose ONE world example of your hazard (i.e. Haiti Earthquake) and describe the impacts (effects) on the NATURAL and CULTURAL environment.
- Identify the Different Responses to the Hazard (not specific to your example)
- PREPAREDNESS – Describe any warnings/preparation systems for your selected hazard.
- PREVENTION – Outline the emergency procedures (search and rescue) and actions which can be taken to reduce harm to people and the environment.
- Mitigation – Explain any general modifications (changes) that can be made to building, housing, streets, transport, etc. to help prevent any future impacts of this disaster. Use examples to support your answer.
